The health and wellbeing of our community and those we serve is of the utmost importance. We have taken great care to establish our COVID-19 Safety Plan so that we can continue to offer services while minimizing risk for our staff, volunteers, clients and community. Here are some of the steps we are taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at our Community Centre.
Visiting the Centre:
- As of March 11, 2022, masks are optional while inside the building
- All programs & event participants must show proof of double vaccination & Government ID
- Two people/families maximum in the lobby. Please line up outside the main entrance
- Sanitizer provided on reception desk – everyone is required to sanitizer their hand when they enter the building.
- Each person entering the space, including staff and volunteers, must complete the wellness screening form
- Please maintain a 2 meter distance from staff and other participants at all times
- Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 must self-isolate at home; symptoms include fever, chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and new muscle aches or headache until they feel better.
- Anyone under the direction of the provincial health officer to self-isolate must follow those instructions.
- All programs and services are offered by registration only. OCA is offering limited drop-in programs, please call the centre to see which programs have a drop-in option.
- Community members seeking information are requested to call to make an appointment to minimize occupancy numbers. 250-370-9101
Physical Distancing:
- All shared spaces have been arranged to accommodate adequate social distancing and each space has a posted occupancy limit.
- Where distance cannot be maintained between staff and public, barriers have been erected or wearing of mask when in close distance is required.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- High touch surfaces (doors, railings, elevator buttons, etc) are sanitized frequently using approved disinfectants.
- Hand sanitizer is available in the Centre.
- Contactless payment (tap or credit card) is the preferred payment method for any services.
- The use of shared equipment has been minimized or removed wherever possible and staff practice high levels of hand hygiene when using shared equipment.
Risk Management and updates to the plan:
- This plan is routinely assessed by OCA’s Health and Safety Committee (JOSH) and adjusted as needed and in accordance with public health guidelines.
