Emergency Childcare Update: April 5, 2020
Oaklands OSC and Little Acorn Child Care are open for child care to Essential Workers.
A list or those considered an Essential Worker is available here (Province of BC's list of Essential Services).
For both In-House and General Public families needing child care, registration for May and June is now open for single days, full week or full month care. Please register one week prior to the date you are needing care to provide us enough notice for staffing, obtaining all information required for your child's file and payment to be finalized.
Rates are actually as follows: Little Acorn: $45/day, $200/week and $800/month OSC: Gr.K $45/day, $175/week and $700/month; Gr, 1-5 is $50/day, $200/week and $800/month
Fees at time of registration will total $0.00 as a place holder for the space. Program coordinators will then email an invoice of fees once registration is received. Fees will be due at time of invoicing. Once registration is confirmed and paid, fees are non-refundable. Fees are outlined on the registration forms.
Registration for the 2020/21 OSC Program has been slightly delayed. Please note the updated dates for registration into the 2020/21 Out-of-School Year.
We will open to our current In-House families first with a 'FORMS ONLY' registration process on May 8, 2020.
Registration for our In-House families into the OSC programs will then open May 19th at 9am.
All In-House families have been emailed registration information; if you are an In-House family and have not received an email outlining the 2020/21 OSC registration process please contact Cindy - Child Care Services Manager at email@example.com
We will open to the public with the 'FORMS ONLY' registration on May 25th.
Registration for the public into the OSC programs will then open June 1st at 9am.

Any non-In-House families that jump the queue and register as an In-House family will have their registration rejected and will be emailed a reminder to register during their specified time line.

*Please note that to enroll with Oaklands Out-of-School Care, your child must be a registered student at Oaklands Elementary School.

*prices are subject to change; fees for Kindergarten children are reduced $50/month for AM only or PM only care and $100/month for AM+PM care due to government funding.
** Families who register for any or all of our Pro -D Day care camps are guaranteed a spot and there are no refunds, the only exception is with a doctor's note stating that your child is unable to attend due to medical reasons or if family cancels their OSC registration.This option allows us to staff more effectively and removes the need to register for each Pro-D camp separately.

Out of School Care Wait listing Process If you are a new family interested in OSC care and registered at Oaklands Elementary, please contact Cindy Allen at email@example.com to be placed on on the wait list. She will contact you with updates about space availability for the 2019/20 school year.
The OSC program clears their wait list on the last day of the current school year. Families who are on the wait list have the opportunity to re-register into the new school year when registration opens to the public.
WE DO NOT TAKE WAIT LISTS FOR FUTURE SCHOOL YEARS. If you are interested in Out-of-School care please contact us in January of the year of your child is starting at Oaklands Elementary and we will place you on an interest list and contact you with updates about space availability. We open to our current in-house families first to re-register into the OSC program, including their siblings who will start kindergarten in the new school year and to our Little Acorns Daycare families with children starting kindergarten. We aim to open registration to current families in March and to new families in April.
Payment Policy: Fees are due on the 1st of each month in the form of post-dated cheques or pre-authorized debit payments from Canadian Financial Institutions. If childcare fees are not received by the 1st of the each month, an additional charge of $1 per day will be added to your account. If the account is not paid in full by the 15th of the month, care will no longer be provided to your child effective immediately. If you require an alternate payment schedule, the Childcare Coordinator will create a mutually approved agreement for both parties to sign. If the alternate payment schedule is breached, care will no longer be provided to your child effective immediately.
Attendance Policy: If your child is going to absent from the out of school program for any reason, families must give written notice or call Oaklands Community Centre at 250-370-9101 no later than 2:45pm. If families fail to advise the Centre of an absence by that time a $25 fine will be charged for each occurrence. Furthermore, families that do not pay the $25 fee within 48 hours will have the charge automatically billed to their next month’s fees.
Late Pick-Up Policy:v A fee of $1 per minute past the pick-up time of 5:30pm will need to be paid at time of pick-up or will be added to the following month's OCS fees.
