Emergency Childcare Update: May 5, 2020

Oaklands Community Association’s Out-Of-School Care (OSC) and Little Acorn day care has been providing Emergency child care services to Essential Workers since April 13th, 2020. Beginning May 1st, 2020, these services will temporarily be provided at only a $10 fee per day.

Cindy Allen, Oaklands Child Care Service Manager, said thatwith the current health crisis creating financial hardships for families, providing care for children of Essential Workers is important and we are proud to be able to help them even more by alleviating any financial strain”.

These services are available to both In-House and General Public Families for single day, full-week or full-month care. Priority will be given to those families in Tier 1; however, should space allow Tier 2 and Tier 3 families will be offered care as well. Little Acorn accepts children between 2.5 to 5 years old, and OSC accepts children that are 5+.

“On behalf of the Oaklands families and all those who use our services I want to thank the Ministry of Children and Family Development; Victoria Foundation and all the Rapid Relief Fund supporters for their generous contributions which make these fee reductions possible.” - Christopher Holt, Executive Director
