When: Saturday, June 29, 11am-5pm
Where: Oaklands Community Centre - 2827 Belmont Ave
Come out and support and celebrate our local Queer & Trans community!
The Market will feature: 50+ Vendors including farmers, food, craft and art vendors! Live Music! Drag performances (including a family-oriented drag story-time!) Food Trucks! An afternoon Beer Garden! A Family area, and more!
ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION:
Masks required indoors: Because disability justice is queer justice! We will be providing face masks and air purifiers in indoor spaces at the market because immunocomprised people matter.
Scents & Lighting: Please refrain from wearing scents at the market for those with scent sensitivities. The indoor portion of the market is a mix of fluorescent lighting and lots of natural light.
Wheelchair, Walker, Scooter, Stroller Access: Oaklands Community Centre is wheelchair, walker, and stroller accessible. There are 4 indoor washrooms which are all wheelchair accessible. However, please note that the 2 washrooms in the Comm Rec room (to the right when you enter) have a larger turning radius and are easier to maneuver in a wheelchair. 2 of the washrooms are equipped with infant changing stations and will be labelled accordingly.
Outdoor surfaces: The outdoor market will take place outside of the Oaklands Community Centre on the Oaklands Elementary grounds. The grounds are all paved. There is a mysterious raised curb in the middle of the market grounds, but we will do our best to make sure foot traffic is able to get around this with ease.
Shade & water: Shade is not always easy to find on the market grounds so please dress for the weather, and fill your water bottle up before coming. We will have a water filling station in the beer garden, info tent, first aid tent, and family area.
ASL Interpretation: We will have an ASL interpreter for the first 2 hours of the market who will be able to support with interpretation for the program opening, and the visitor info booth until 1pm. Thank you to IDHHC for all you do!

Julie Parrell (she/they) is a Queer Two Spirited Métis Person who was born on the lands of the Esquimalt and Songhees people and raised on their Métis homelands of Treaty 1.
She has spent the last 18 years living on the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations.
She is forever grateful to these nations for being so welcoming and sharing with her - a guest on stolen land. She is especially thankful for the traditional practices that have kept these lands beautiful since time immemorial.
Julie wears many hats in her community. She is a writer, a performer, a provocateur, a gardener and a medicine person. She is always using her voice for justice and believes all beings from here to Palestine deserve to know freedom, joy and peace.
Julie is so inspired by this market, this community of Queers, coming together to celebrate! We've come a long way!! She looks forward to all the joy and connection this day will bring.
