Thank you for another amazing season of the Oaklands Sunset

The season runs Wednesdays, 4:30-8:00pm, June 29 - August 31, 2022. Every week we will have a selection of local farm & food vendors to help you get the yummy treats that you deserve. We are very excited for the opportunity to bring delicious food to our community and we hope to see you there!!

About:

The Oaklands Sunset Market began as a community celebration, a space for neighbours and local businesses to come together and build community connections. Since our start, we have grown in size, capacity, and scope but we continue to cultivate local economic development, community connections, and to support local arts and culture. We strive to enrich the lives of our community with knowledge of food security and sustainable food practices, by providing access to local food and direct access to local farmers and food producers.

Our goal is to provide a space for a safe, vibrant celebration of local love through food, arts, culture, and inclusivity. We seek to engage our community and create an accessible, free gathering for people to come together and meet local food growers, producers, and businesses.

We are interested and open to community collaborations of all kinds! If you have a great idea, or if  you are interested in becoming a Oaklands Sunset Market Sponsor, we would love to hear from you!

Yes! We will be hosting a couple of food trucks in the parking lot, just off of Ryan St.

Where is Oaklands Sunset Market?

You’ll find us at Oaklands Community Centre, 1-2827 Belmont Ave, off of Ryan St, beside the Oaklands Elementary School.  Click here to find us.

What are the dates for the 2022 Sunset Markets?

The Oaklands Sunset Markets run weekly on Wednesday evenings from 4:30 - 8:00pm from June 29 -August 31, 2022.

Am I allowed to bring my bicycle into the market?

Yes please! We would love to see you using public transit, walking, or cycling to get to the market. Please feel free to use the bike racks on the market grounds to lock up your bike, but please do not ride your bike through the market :)

How do I get to the market?

Parking around the area is very limited. Consider walking, biking or taking public transit. The #4, #22 and #10 bus stops are a 10 minute walk from the market. Check out the BC Transit website for transit details.

Where can I park?

There is limited street parking. Please  do not block driveways, park in residential areas, and park in areas prohibited by the City of Victoria Department of Parking.  As a community event, good neighbourly relationships are very important to us. We want to ensure all our neighbours are respected, so please do not park in restricted residential zones.

How do I pay the vendors for my purchase?

Some vendors accept credit card or debit but most do not. Cash is always the best bet.

Am I allow to leaflet or hawk in the market?

Out of respect for others NO hawking, accosting, leafleting or soliciting is permitted.

Where are the washrooms?

Washroom facilities are located in the main Community Centre building and can be accessed from the main entrance.

Where should my garbage go?

We aim to be a zero-waste market, so please join us in our goals to divert all waste from the landfill. For your easy sorting convenience there are composting, recycling, Return-It, and garbage bins throughout the market. Please help the market stay clean by sorting properly.

Will the vendors bag my purchased items?

Vendors do not have plastic or reusable bags. Please remember to bring your own reusable bags or baskets on Market Day.

Why is there no “sale”, "discount", or "reduced price" signs at the market?

We want to respect time, energy and effort put into the locally made produces, the term “sale” negates the time, effort, value of locally produced food.

When is Kids Vendor Day?

Unfortunately, we have cancelled Kid Vendor day this season due to increased health & safety regulations.

Why do vendors display their ingredients?

We want our market goers to know where each produce is coming from and what is going into it. The ingredients display lets you make an informed choice about what you are purchasing and where it comes from. We are all about supporting local and being transparent.
